A new app well worth a mention came out yesterday and so I am posting this as an addendum to my previous drum synthesis post.
SeekBeats is an iphone drum synth that packs a lot of power and synthesis into a small package.
It has 8 voices, each of which is a 2 oscillator synth with chorus/distortion FX, filters, and envelopes for amplitude, pitch, noise and filter. Each of these envelopes can have up to 8 points/nodes on the line! You can set a “velocity” for each step and that velocity can be used to set almost any parameter on the synthesis page.
Also has a great choke/mute system so any voice can choke/mute any other voice, if you have read my previous articles you will know that lack of choke groups is one of my big complaints about many of the iOS drum apps, but this has that function in spades (that’s the “Muting” group on the right hand side above)
Look at all dem crazy nodes!!
There is also a crazy randomizer function that allows to randomize a few, or all, parameters and snapshot any result you like.
If you are not in the mood for synthesis there are a load of presets included.
Audiobus enabled too!
For $3 I think this is one of the best deals out there. I am running this on an iPad4 .
You see people, I am not always a grumpy twat slagging off hard working developers, put out a function rich, well designed, beautifully thought out app for a bargain price and I am happy as the proverbial Larry.
… talking of which I have a few Apps who are deserving an AppRegret post…
